Vänersborgs museum is Sweden’s oldest preserved museum environment with authentic exhibits from the 1880s. The museum houses a world famous bird collection from Namibia and South Africa for example, Swedish birds and mammals, Egyptian antiquities, glass and porcelain from Europe and China, 19th century paintings and a remarkable collection of seed samples from Swedish native flora.
You can also see the old museum warder’s residence and an exhibition about Vänersborg’s great poet and scald Birger Sjöberg (1885-1929).
