Cane rat

The cane rat is considered a good ingredient in various dishes. There are farms where cane rats are bred for consumption.

The cane rat is active in the morning and evening when it eats plant parts, even in agricultural areas - as the name suggestsAnimals that prey on them are leopards, serval, wildcat, jackal, honey badger, larger raptor and snakes.

Meat from the cane rat is appreciated for human consumption. In Ghana  cane rats are  bred for just this purpose.

The cane rat can reach an age of about 4 years in captivity.
