The Church

En äldre kyrka.

For the people of Brätte and for people in general, faith and the church were very important. With a strong spiritual community, the church was intimately present in people's lives. Church visits were mandatory and of great social importance. Acquaintances met in the church and, in addition to church services, general information and official announcements were received there. The church could be the extended arm of the state. The law and order that prevailed in the city and in the country as a whole was also largely governed by religious commandments and beliefs.

For a long time, the people of Brätte went to Vassända parish church one kilometer north, but eventually the city got its own church. It seems to have been a small, centrally located wooden church, without a tower, with a low stone wall around it. The cemetery itself was located just south of the city.
