Brätte- The City That Disappeared
Can a city really disappear?
From being a marketplace, a city grew at the southern tip of Lake Vänern during the late 1500s. The city was named Brätte after the hill or slope it was built on. Brätte's history was short-lived, and after just a few decades, the city was moved and renamed Vänersborg.
Nature took over, and where houses, streets, and farms once stood, and where life once thrived, grass and forests soon grew. After a few generations, the location of the city of Brätte was forgotten, forgotten until an unusual discovery was made on an autumn day in 1904...
